Hardware Developer

We are looking for a motivated team player to be a part of our design team further enhancing our industry leading IoT leak monitoring and condition assessment products. Our IoT products are deployed in large numbers throughout municipalities to assist our customers in managing their water infrastructure. The successful candidate will collaborate with various internal stakeholders to guide our products through their design lifecycles from New Product Introduction to Sustaining.
This position will be based in our Toronto office and is a 12-15 month contract position.
Key Responsibilities
Designing printed circuit boards including schematic capture, simulation, and layout Responsible for components selection including PCB components and interconnection Designing for communication interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, USB Theoretical and experimental power budgeting of new designs for battery life estimation Coordination of compliance certification FCC 15B, IEC 61000, PTCRB Documenting formal drawings, work instructions, bills of materials for manufacturing Validation testing for extended environmental protections and IP rating, etc. Manage product life cycle issues including obsolescence, excessive lead times, substitute selection Work with CMs and production department in the process of New Product Introduction Work in compliance with the Mueller Water Products Core Values and Code of Conduct and all Environment, Health and Safety policies and procedures Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Bachelors in Electrical/Electronics Engineering 5+ years of experience in analog, digital, and mixed signal hardware design for industrial and/or outdoors applications Experienced in schematic entry and layout design using industry standard tools with good understanding of PCB layout design Experienced with design of printed circuit boards to meet EMC and signal integrity requirements Working knowledge of switching power supplies, op-amps, filters, and communications interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, USB. Experience with simulation tools such as LTspice, TINA Proactive/hands-on approach to managing complex and dynamic multi-site projects with an ability to work across boundaries and establish relationships with key stakeholders Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to solve problems as part of a multi-site organization and cross functional team is expected Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to work effectively within a team environment Strong time management skill and attention to detail
Position Assets
