Hughes Safety Showers, NA currently has an opening for a Purchasing Agent in Sarnia, Ontario. Hughes Safety Showers is a world leader in the manufacturing of emergency safety showers, eye/face wash and decontamination equipment designed to operate across all industries regardless of location, climate or local hazards. 

Responsible for the timely procurement of raw materials, products, and services to ensure the efficient production of quality products and timely shipping of orders. Works closely with the Purchasing Manager and Production Team to ensure purchasing, inventory and logistics objectives are met within cost and quality standards. Participates in strategic design and direction of the supply chain processes to support sales and manufacturing operations. Will ensure a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement while executing the day-to-day responsibilities as required by the business. 

Responsibilities:

Continuously engages in and leads strategic sourcing activities to create cost savings within the supply chain. Supports the Purchasing Manager in the development of strategic sourcing roadmaps and funnels. Actively participates in creating cost savings opportunities and formally tracks and reports these opportunities monthly. Reviews and analyzes purchased product and raw material costs and cost trends. Creates monthly report of Purchase Price Variance for all raw materials, purchased inventory, and supplies. Develops strong working relationships with suppliers and uses data driven approach to determine preferred suppliers. Focuses on supplier selection criterion through consideration of Quality, Delivery, Cost, Service of the supplier. Supplier performance management and reporting related to Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Service. Uses formal Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) to analyze problem statements and drive improvements within the supply chain. Ensures proper flow of inbound materials to meet production and customer requirements. Uses reporting tools and ERP to determine inventory trends and adjust safety stock, order points and order quantities. Consistently engages in and leads Continuous Improvement of process, quality, and efficiencies within the Supply Chain. Utilizes data analysis to identify opportunities for improvement. Monitors supplier on time delivery metrics to ensure consistent performance that meets requirements and demands of the manufacturing schedule. Collaborates with Purchasing Manager and Production Team members to share best practices and create benchmarks. Works alongside the Purchasing Manager to develop performance standards, key performance indicators, standardized operation processes for inventory operations and physical layouts for logistical flow through receiving, shipping and warehouse operations. Participates in daily management huddles and meetings to support business needs. Participate in managing inventory which includes controlling, material costs, inventory variance and obsolescence expenses.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree 5+ year’s relevant experience or 6+ years of applicable Supply Chain experience, with at least 3 years in a similar supply chain role. Solid understanding of continuous improvement principles and methods, including Kanban, Point of Use (POUS) material, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Line Balancing, etc. Advanced Excel skills strongly desired (v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.) Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving skills Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a positive and collaborative manner. Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement initiatives. Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
