As a private setar instructor at Capilano University’s North Vancouver campus, your role will be instrumental in shaping the musical foundation and growth of first and second-year students enrolled in the Music Diploma program. Capilano University’s Music Diploma program serves as a springboard for aspiring musicians, providing a two-year transfer program that not only develops students’ musical foundation but also prepares them for successful transfers to complete their Bachelor of Music or pursue further studies in specialized fields like Music Therapy, Music Education, and Liberal Arts.

Offering individualized private lessons that cater to the diverse needs and skill levels of the students within the program, you will play a pivotal role in fostering their artistic and technical growth, helping them navigate their musical journey at CapU and beyond. What you’ll bring Candidates should possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Music or an equivalent performance background, complemented by at least 5 years of proven experience as a private instructor, showcasing adept mentorship abilities. An exceptional understanding of setar music, coupled with profound musicianship and a comprehensive grasp of music theory, technique, and repertoire specific to the setar, is essential. Furthermore, the candidate should demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and team skills, fostering a collaborative environment and effective communication within a diverse team and student population. The ability to cater to students of all levels and diverse backgrounds, coupled with a passionate commitment to music education, will be pivotal in creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for the students’ artistic growth.
