Title of Course

VISA 2P04 Figurative Painting

Fundamentals of conceiving and painting the figure: introduction to the anatomic, narrative and expressive concepts of the human form. Lectures, studio work, 5 hours per week.

Schedule: Section 2 Winter Term Friday 0900-1500

Delivery Method: face-to-face

Compensation

Effective September 1, 2024 - $7, per half course (195 hours nominally)
Effective September 1, 2024 - $14, per full course (390 hours nominally)
Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).

Qualifications

1. MFA is required.

2. Previous teaching experience of at least three years at the university required.

3. Demonstrated background in teaching the practical and theoretical aspects of painting including color theory, the history and techniques of acrylics is required.

4. Familiarity with all technical aspects of canvas stretching, basic hand tools, safety and wood shop protocols involving the operation of a table and compound saw is required.

5. Record of professional activity and exhibitions in figure painting demonstrative of standing in the arts community is required.

6. Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level; and in the area to be taught are required by providing copies of recent teaching course/performance evaluations.
