We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Financial Analyst in Toronto, Ontario. The role encompasses a broad range of financial tasks within a research institute environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for pre and post-award activities for research accounts, providing financial reporting, analysis services and conducting detailed financial projections.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver financial reporting and analysis services to principal investigators and their teams
• Comply with policy and program guidelines while preparing monthly, quarterly or annual reports for granting agencies
• Conduct detailed financial analysis and prepare projections, identifying potential risk areas
• Coordinate with principal investigators and their team regarding account setup/close, forecast, inquiries and issues for grant accounts
• Review funding letters and contracts to ensure compliance with granting agencies’ requirements and guidelines
• Perform general accounting duties including journal entries, reconciliations of various accounts, billings, invoices, and disbursement requisitions
• Interact with granting agencies and coordinate with external institutions and internal stakeholders concerning regular grant activities and reporting
• Assist in audits and preparation of documentation when required
• Handle special projects and ad hoc tasks as assigned.
• Proven experience as a Financial Analyst for a minimum of 5 years
• Proficient in the use of Cash Applications
• Demonstrated ability in Account Reconciliation
• Experience in Cash Reconciliations
• Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to create and present detailed reports
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Strong knowledge of financial databases and software
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field
