Your Opportunity:
AAMH Central Zone supports Albertans looking to access AHS Addiction & Mental Health (AMH) services in Central Zone. As a member of the AAMH Intake Team, you will be responding to callers and conducting the tele-triage of addiction and mental health calls. Dependent on the nature of the call, you may be required to conduct a thorough screening and intake assessment to determine appropriate level of service required for the caller, enroll the caller into an AHS AMH service, advise of appropriate external community-based services, provide immediate brief intervention and solution-focused support (if required), and appropriately triage to services where necessary. As part of a virtual team providing expanded intake services for Central Zone community clinics in the days and evenings, you will be supporting clients across the age continuum, including clients in rural and remote areas.
Description:
As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.
Required Qualifications:Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:A minimum of three (3) years within the last five (5) years providing mental health and/or addictions supports, including conducting intakes and screenings for clients seeking services is required. Ability to manage a wide variety of clinical situations with varying levels of acuity and a heterogeneous caller population.Competency in concurrent capable practice within addiction and mental health.Demonstrated skills in screening and intake assessments for individuals of all ages with addiction and mental health concerns. Ability to respond to de-escalate & respond to crises and emergency situationsStrong working knowledge of the addiction and mental health system across the provinceExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively liaise with various professionals.Ability to deliver services effectively using distance technology, to learn and utilize multiple electronic platforms concurrently, and to function well in a virtual team environment.Knowledge and understanding of multi-cultural backgrounds, diversity and inclusion considerations, and understanding needs relevant to the area and population being served.
