Essential Functions
Effective communication with other staff and volunteers including documentation of issues, critical incidents, equipment/maintenance issues and daily review of staff communication log. Sharing critical information with youth including special events, behavioral expectations, NCC policies and youth center updates. Encouraging safety practices and adherence to current health orders related to Covid-19. Role model and encourage YMCA values and creating positive interactions with youth and families. Develop meaningful relationships with skate park users. Make sure YMCA equipment is being inspected by staff, removing damaged equipment, and reporting any damage to Coordinator. Engage as a fellow skatepark enthusiast and facilitating skill development for users who are interested in learning new skills. Act as needed to ensure a safe environment at the skatepark by notifying Duty Manager or law enforcement of critical incidents. Act as a first responder to health and safety issues. Provide opportunities for Youth to learn and develop in spirit, mind and body. Consistently representing YMCA’s values and mission, encourage a healthy lifestyle, and participation in other YMCA activities.What You'll Need
Minimum 18+ years of age High School Diploma or equivalent is an asset Previous Youth work/mentorship or related experience is an asset Complete additional training within 3 months of hire Certifications: Standard First Aid & CPR-C Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check Skateboarding skills and experience coaching skill development to novice skaters Basic understanding of positive skatepark culture Conflict management skillsWork Environment an Physical Demands
