Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services is currently inviting applications for the position of EMS AR & Customer Service Specialist. Reporting to the Reporting & Administration Supervisor for Fire/EMS and PSCC, the EMS AR & Customer Service Specialist will primarily be responsible for electronic Patient Care Report processing and the associated billings and collections for ambulance accounts. Working within a team, you will have shared responsibilities for processing electronic Patient Care Reports (ePCR’s) through both a Medical Technologies software program and Fire Data Management Software (FDM) as well as processing the billing and collection of ambulance accounts through JD Edwards Financial Modules (JDE).

STATUS: Permanent, Full-time position 

Hours of Work: 75 hours bi-weekly (Monday to Friday schedule)


Rate of Pay: $35.32 per hour

DUTIES (include but not limited to):

Process electronic Patient Care Reports while ensuring data collected is in compliance with internal and external policies and procedures. Reconcile medical events between software systems. Process billing entries from Fire Data Management Software. Process billing entries into JD Edwards Financial Module. Calculate, generate, and mail ambulance invoices. Respond to patient billing and payment questions and concerns. Process patient payments. Process and reconcile external Agency invoices and payments on behalf of patients. Contact customers/agencies regarding past due accounts and resolve outstanding payment issues. Process purchase orders and accounts payable and other related tasks. Liaise with emergency medical personnel to gather the appropriate clinical data. Liaise with Fire IT to troubleshoot system problems. Ensure the privacy and confidentiality of all information. Ensure compliance with provincial legislation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Post-secondary course work experience relating to Accounting and/or office administration. Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Understands the accounting equation and the journals entries necessary between revenue, accounts receivable and bad debt for invoicing, payments, and adjustments. Preference given to individuals who have experience with account collections and are able to utilize the skills of empathy and compassion towards customer’s concerns during life altering events. Preference given to individuals with working knowledge of JD Edwards Financial Modules.
