NAIT’sComputer Network Administrator program (CNA) is a one-year certificate programthat provides students with the fundamental knowledge and hands-on technicalskills required to be successful in today’s information technology world.The CNA programteaches students foundational technology skills, core knowledge areas, andstrategies for being successful. Students get specialized training withup-to-date applied technology with a focus in supporting secure servers andnetwork infrastructures using on premise and cloud technologies.
The successful candidate should be an energeticleader, committed to student success, have strong organizational skills, withexcellent communications skills in both written and oral English. Stronganalytical, problem solving, critical-thinking and decision-making skills arerequired.
We are looking to fill the following courses:
COMP1000 – Client/Server Fundamentals – This course covers hardware components ofservers and workstations. Students will also learn how to configure client andserver operating systems in a network environment.
PRGM1000 – Scripting Fundamentals – This course covers programming to tasks in the ITprofession using Python. Students will create modular programs and scripts thatuse iteration, decision-making, and information processing. Students willimplement algorithms and analyze, debug, and troubleshoot programs.
COMP1300 – Virtualization – This course covers the fundamentals and rationale for servervirtualization. Students will install and configure virtual hosts and networkswith current technologies. Students build their own mini cloud environment.
PROJ1000 – Technical Project I – Building something as complex as a computer networkrelies on the timely completion of interdependent smaller components. Undersupervision, students will build a network based on a given scenario whiledemonstrating teamwork, technical skills, research abilities, andprofessionalism.
The successful candidate will have the followingskills:
Strong knowledge of IT fundamentals. On premise virtualization using Hyper V, SystemCenter Virtual Machine Manager, ESXi and vCenter Server. Microsoft Azure and other cloud computing servicesincluding migration and deployment. Administering and managing multi-site directoryservices in Windows Server. Experience with M365 and Endpoint Management. Imaging software to deploy/upgrade/migratecomputers. Troubleshooting methodologies and help deskticketing systems. Experience with Python and automating IT tasks.Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct classroom/lab instruction while utilizing appropriateinstructional strategies to maximize student motivation and learning in askill-building environment. Assist in designing, developing, selecting and revising course curriculumand materials on a continuous basis, using the Institute prescribed process Evaluate the learning process: Ensure learning is evaluated in a reliable and timely manner, providingappropriate and timely feedback to students; Submit marks/records promptly. Provide coaching or referral for students who are experiencingdifficulties in order to maximize retention and student success. Use the institute-approved process to regularly solicit feedback oninstruction from students and use the results to improve instructionaldelivery. Utilize appropriate educational technology for communications,presentations, and program promotion. Maintain professionaland ethical relationships with students and colleagues. Maintain contact with relevant industries. Develop and revise course material and curriculum on an ongoing basis toensure relevancy to industry standards and to maximize student success.Qualifications:
Adegree (preferred) or diploma in computer or network administration or relateddiscipline would be an asset. Relatedindustry experience is required. Previouscurriculum development or delivery would be an asset.Applicants witheducation credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentialsevaluated by World Education Services or the International QualificationsAssessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration : $99per instructional hour (SIH)
Thisposition is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) CollectiveAgreement
Please Note: As part of the interview process, candidates selected for aninterview will be required to do a teaching demonstration (5-8 minutes) on anytopic covered in the program that showcases your passion, creativity, andinnovation. You can present any phase of the lesson (around 5-8 minutes), andthe panel will act as your students.
