Position Title: Medical Receptionist

Location: Grande Prairie, AB

Shift Imaging is a community based, medical imaging provider specializing in the delivery of state-of-the-art care to the underserved populations across Northern Alberta.

Our imagers are fully certified and fellowship trained providing modern pain management therapies, echocardiography, obstetrical ultrasound, general ultrasound, and x-ray.

With a focus on making cutting edge medical care accessible to communities otherwise encumbered with long commutes and hazardous winter conditions, Shift Imaging brings the necessary expertise closer to home, without sacrificing quality.

Were privileged to be the Peace Regions first imaging provider to locally offer:

  • Nuchal translucency ultrasound (the 11 -13 weeks scan), with all radiologists and technologists meeting the standards set forth by the Fetal Medicine Foundation.
  • Echocardiography capable of Automated Function Imaging (AFI) to more accurately assess wall motion at rest.
  • Special liver studies including Sheerwave Elastography (fibrosis staging) and UGAP (ultrasound guided attenuation parameter), enabling quantification of liver steatosis to aid in early identification and monitoring of patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
  • An all-in-one stop for pain management including diagnosis, treatment, specialist referral, and rehabilitation.
  • Radiofrequency neurotomy (RFN) for the treatment of facetogenic low back pain.
  • Shift Imaging is recognized as a training center by the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists. Our compassionate and highly skilled Radiological Technologists are trained in the theory and practice of special image guided procedures.

Position Summary:

The Medical Receptionist plays an integral role in the clinics operations, ensuring that we continue to provide reliable, accurate, and compassionate services to our patients, referring physicians, and coworkers.

As one of our points of contact, the Medical Receptionist sets the tone for our patient journey within the clinic, and as such we expect that every interaction is entered with respect and dignity by providing every patient with clear, detailed, and timely care.

Main responsibilities will include checking patients in for exams, booking, coordinating patients for multiple exams, ensuring that clerical responsibilities are completed, all while ensuring a smooth patient and clinic flow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greeting and checking in of all patients

  • Verify and update patient information

  • Notify appropriate department of patient arrival

  • Ensure all requisitions are imported

  • Ordering and booking patient

  • Schedule follow up examinations

  • Answering phones and directing calls to correct recipient when necessary
  • Handle incoming report requests

  • Requesting previous exams from outside facilities

  • Photocopying, faxing, mailing

  • Constant communication with Diagnostic Imaging staff

  • Must maintain the utmost in professional confidence of patient information and/or results
  • Provide patients with exam preparations

  • Confirmation of next day patient appointments

  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the Office Manager or Medical Director

Core Competencies:

  • Strong computer skills with Electronic Medical Record experience.

  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.

  • Able to work in a fast-paced/high stress environment

  • Able to perform daily tasks independently and as part of a team, while developing strong relationships and closely coordinating with staff of other departments.
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written.

  • Self-motivated, reliable and punctual

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.

  • Medical Office Assistant/Unit Clerk Certification is considered an asset.

  • 12 months of prior related clinical experience preferred.
