We are seeking a highly skilled, team-oriented, and responsible Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Residential Addictions teams at the Northern Addictions Centre. Reporting to the Supervisor of the NAC Treatment Team, and the AHN (Assistant Head Nurse) in Detox, the incumbent’s primary duties include pre-admission screening and client admissions for the Residential Treatment Program, medication management, collaborating on and monitoring care plans to manage acute and chronic health issues during the treatment stay, withdrawal management, discharge planning, and liaising with referral and other care partners in the community.In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. By applying on this posting, if you are the successful candidate, you will transition to Recovery Alberta. In accordance with the transition letter of understanding with UNA, current employees under the UNA Collective Agreement who accept an employment offer, issued after July 1, 2024, will not have any rights under Article 15: Layoff and Recall.

Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
