What we are looking for:

Reporting directly to the General Counsel of Fiera Private Markets (“FPM”), the Senior Legal Counsel will be a key contributing member of the FPM legal team and provide legal advice, guidance and services to different FPM investment platforms worldwide. 

This role is well suited for someone who has proven legal and business judgment with an orientation to finding creative solutions and possesses a consistent “can do” attitude.

Your responsibilities:

Provide advice on a broad range of legal matters pertaining to private markets funds and strategies, including the formation, management and distribution of private markets funds in various jurisdictions across the globe Engage with fund managers, deal teams and external counsel on both deal-specific and asset management issues Respond to general legal inquiries from internal clients that relate to asset management issues, and provide advice on appropriate legal action to be taken Monitor legal trends pertaining to the asset management industry

Must have requirements to be successful in this role :

A minimum of 6 years of post-call experience in corporate/commercial law with a major law firm or as in-house counsel Experience in private markets fund formations and/or private equity, private credit or private investment asset management is not required but would be an asset Have proven legal and business judgement and excellent analytical skills Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail Be a confident, pro-active self-starter with the ability to work independently and handle various tasks simultaneously Have exceptional written and oral communication skills and superior interpersonal skills Have the ability to produce high-quality work under strict timelines Be able to work in a collaborative environment and to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high volume environment If based in Montreal or Laval, this position would require bilingualism in French and English, however if based in Toronto, French is an asset but not a requirement
