Driver Helper

We are currently hiring for the position of Driver Helper / General labour for one of Canada’s leaders in Waste Management located in Castlegar, BC. In this position you will be working with the Route Driver and assisting in the collection of Waste and /or Recyclable material. What We Offer:SHIFT: Causal work, may be scheduled 1 to 5 days a week Monday to Friday 6:30 am to 2:30 pm November 4, 2024 to January 31, 2025PAY: $20.00 to $22.00 per hourWhat You'll Do:Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as requiredManually or mechanically loads and empties residential and/or commercial containers into a truckContainers maybe staged curbside, dockside, carryout, or require pullout to complete serviceOperates hoisting device to lift and empty bins or containers into the truck hopperAssists the driver with all backing maneuvers while on routeNotifies Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damageNotifies Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service, or potential safety hazardsCommunicates customer requests to Dispatch or Route ManagerPerforms all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needsHelping the Driver and other days may be onsite cleaningWhat We're Looking For:Steel Toe Footwear, gloves and safety vestMust be able to stand, walk, bend, reach and lift in an outdoor environmentAbility to manually lift/move heavy containersComfortable working in an outdoor environment and exposed to weather conditions.Our team is eager to connect with candidates who meet the job requirements.
