Your Opportunity:

A new team at Willow Square Continuing Care Centre in Fort McMurray requires a part time ( Physiotherapist as part of the multidisciplinary team for a 10-bed short stay rehabilitation unit. Physical Therapist I (Physiotherapist) is responsible for providing comprehensive assessments, consultation, and treatment programs for clients. This position provides an opportunity to make an impact as an integral part of a very supportive team that you will communicate and collaborate with. You will be the primary therapist and demonstrate initiative and leadership. You will be expected to have an active part in developing the program within a patient and family focused provider. You will use evidence-based practices as you coordinate and develop rehabilitation plans for client endorsing the Alberta Health Services values and providing direction to a Therapy Assistant. This is an opportunity develop the role and be a part of a new program. Located in beautiful Fort McMurray which resides on Treaty 8 territory, the largest treaty by area in the history of Canada and on the traditional lands of the Metis. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention ( prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those with previous experience in Physiotherapy.
