What You Will Do:

In this unionized position of Technician, Distribution Operations you will play an essential role within our Operations team. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Efficiently operating and maintaining natural gas pipeline systems; Ensuring all required documentation is completed on time as required by regulations; Responding to natural gas related emergencies; Performing construction tasks as per policies and procedures; and Representing the Company to customers and the public.

This position requires on call duties on a rotational basis to respond to natural gas related emergencies.

What You Will Bring:

Required qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent; Gas Utilities Operator course*; Three years in a related field, of which one year involves performing the operations functions of a natural gas utility*; Valid Province of Alberta Class 5 driver’s license; A clean driver's abstract is also required for this position; and Ability to perform all necessary physical requirements. 

Note: The successful candidate will be required to live within 30 minutes driving time from our Morinville District Office to respond to natural gas related emergencies.

Preferred skills and qualifications:

Mechanical aptitude and dexterity when using tools, equipment, and instruments; Good communication skills, decision making skills and a strong work ethic; Ability to establish good working relationships and provide excellent customer service; Proficiency working with various computer software systems including Microsoft Office suite; Good judgment and maintain motivation and performance when working independently and; Safe work habits and adherence to safety regulations.

This is a Safety-sensitive role with pre-employment testing requirements including a fitness to work, drug & alcohol screening, olfactory and audio metric assessment, and a driving evaluation.
