Description

We are looking for Instrumentation & Controls Coop Student for one our Whitby Mills location for Fall session.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Automated industrial machinery PLC logic design, troubleshooting, and in‐house construction and · commissioning. · HMI/touchscreen design and implementation. · Electrical controls system design, from start to finish, including the generation of complete electrical/controls drawing packages, bill of materials, and implementation plan for onsite electricians. · Drawing modification/creation of electrical and P&I drawings. · Design/specification of electrical circuits/components and materials, technical selection, sizing and evaluation of equipment and parts. · Review and edit existing drawings. Maintain an accurate library of in‐house systems. · Participate in pre/post‐design reviews. · On‐site support, troubleshooting and commissioning of various hardware devices including: · PLC 5, Controllogix, PLC's · AB and ABB, VFD's · Servos · Digital/Analog field devices · general I/O devices · inspection camera systems · Various communication networks profibus, ethernet IP, etc. · Production technical support for new and existing installations. 

Professional & Education Qualifications:

· Minimum 3 year diploma in engineering technology ‐ Electro‐Mechanical or Electronics Technology preferred. Post‐Secondary Education College/University. · 2 years minimum automation and design experience working with programmable logic controllers, controls installations, VFD's, remote I/O Skills: · Safety conscious and well aware of the hazards of working in an industrial environment, including working in close proximity to 600VAC systems and live mechanical systems. · Ability to work in a mulƟ‐disciplinary team, including mechanical, tooling, electrical and instrumentation. · Good understanding of Microsoft Office is an asset. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills. · Ability to work extra hours to ensure successful project/shutdown completion when required. · Self‐motivated, driven individual with good problem‐solving skills. · Working experience and understanding of industrial mechanical system is a significant asset. · Organized, self‐regulated and excellent Ɵme management skills required. Knowledge: · Solid knowledge of electrical field devices. ‐ limit switches of various types, proximity switches, photo switches, encoders, scanners, etc. · Experience with process instrumentation, control valves, transmiƩers and analytical equipment. · Good understanding of motor controls, servos and VFDs. · Good working knowledge of AutoCAD . · a willingness to accept responsibility and make decisions · a high level of attention to detail · Paper industry experience an assist · Experience with ValmetDNA products an asset.
