Simulated Patient Trainer

The Centre for Collaborative Clinical Learning & Research (C3LR) provides space and resources for experiential learning and research. The C3LR offers innovative educational opportunities for multi- health discipline, uniprofessional, and interprofessional education through simulation, interprofessional collaboration, and innovative pedagogies that lead to improved transition of graduates to their professional practice areas. Reporting to the Director, the Simulated Patient Trainer (SPT) is a key leader with responsibility for implementing pedagogically-sound simulation- based curriculum and instructional design for health discipline programs, including external licensing exams, which has been developed by faculty, program leads, and simulated patient educators.
Key Responsibilities
Support the management of multiple complex and concurrent curricular events from start to finish using a project management framework with an emphasis on simulated participant-related components of such events. Plan simulated patient training to ensure efficient, fiscally responsible, and effective preparation of simulated participants for a range of events, including, but not limited to, effectively communicating program logistics, standardization requirements, case materials, affect requirements, etc. Select and schedule simulated participants for events, including all required orientation and training meetings. Train simulated participants to complete assessment of learners, when required for specific curricular programming. participants’ standardization and readiness for events. Assist with the planning and scheduling of simulated participant-related components of curricular events and assessments. This might include consulting on physical space and supply requirements and/or collaborating with project leaders to address catering needs and appropriate scheduling of simulated participants breaks. Support the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of casual simulated participants and support staff on an as-needed basis into the simulated participants program. This might include supporting Simulated Patient Educator or Clinical Skills Educator led intake processes by co-facilitating interviews, data-entry, and/or providing feedback on selected applicants.Note
The selected candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and some weekend assignments. There is a potential for work related travel.
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Undergraduate degree with a minimum of three years’ progressive experience in simulation or a related educational field (or an equivalent combination of training an experience). Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply principles and best practices pertaining to simulation-based learning, ideally in clinical and communication skills health education. Proven written and verbal communication skills. Strong project management skills Ability to work in a fast-paced team-based collaborative environment.Assets
