Carpenter (General Repair Technician GRT)

Carpenters (GRT) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state GRTs use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a GRT.

Responsible for…

The multi-talented GRT is skilled in the following ways:

Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts Framing Flooring Drywalling, taping, mudding, sanding and finishing Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim, landscapes, and portraiture not included) Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing Insulation and vapour barrier installation Being awesome, in general Installation Doors Trim, moldings, and baseboards Hardware installation Cabinetry

What you bring

The GRT brings a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a ‘get it done’ attitude. Additional abilities required include:

Experience working in construction environments Tools and the skills to use them Strong people and communication skills Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do A safety mindset Valid drivers license Ability to pass a criminal record check Ability to communicate in English

Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory:

Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker) IICRC certification (restoration focus) WHMIS First Aid

Of Note

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.
