Journeyperson Mechanic - Automotive or Heavy Duty

Location: Cochrane, AB

SOUTHLAND is currently seeking a Journeyperson Mechanic to join our team of maintenance professionals. This role is responsible for servicing/repairing SOUTHLAND school buses in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. This position is not confined to shop activities as the Mechanic may be required to perform field work on down buses.

Duties

Ongoing maintenance/repair of buses Diagnose equipment problems CVIP Inspections Respond to breakdowns Spring and winter maintenance Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines Maintain a clean and orderly work environment

Requirements

Journeyperson Ticket (Automotive or Heavy Duty) Own hand tools Fluent in written and spoken English 2 – 5 years related experience Valid Driver’s License (Class 2 or 3 considered an asset) CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License Exposure to working on diesel engines Analytical and troubleshooting skills Ability to comprehend/operate diagnostic and manual measuring tools, including micrometers, brake drum gauge, Ohmmeters, and AVR (Amps, Volts & Resistors) Computer proficiency

Remuneration

Hourly range - $36.00 - $40.00 Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday) Employee Benefits Plan (after 3-month probation) Group Registered Retirement Savings (RRSP) Plan (available after 12 months) Annual Tool and Boot Allowance (pro-rated from start date - available in last quarter of the year, and each subsequent year)
