Position Details

As a key member of CAA Insurance Claims Leadership team, the Manager, Special Investigations Unit SIU reports directly to the National Director, Recovery and Investigative Services , and will actively participate in the evolution of the SIU department and areas of responsibility including SIU strategy, philosophy, authority, control and accountability structure. 

What you will do:

Provide leadership for the technical and personnel leadership of staff within the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) Operation area of responsibility
Manage and oversee internal and external vendors including defense firms, private investigators, records review companies, legal document and photocopy companies, expert witnesses that are utilized in the investigation, evaluation, and defense of suspected fraudulent claims. 
Responsible for evolving and maintaining all SIU procedures, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and responsible for all SIU training.
Liaise with Claims Leaders and experts on technical and administrative issues specific to fraud containment.
Ensure ongoing adjudication of claims in compliance with CAA Claims policies, procedures, and best practices, relevant provincial / federal laws and Insurance regulations
Responsible for evaluation and completion of annual company SIU report

Who you are:

Post-secondary education in Criminology, Insurance Management, Business Administration or related filed. 
10 plus years’ experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry.
5 plus years as an SIU manager or supervisor in combination with 5 plus years as an SIU investigator.
Extensive litigation experience and legal knowledge.
CIP designation completed or in progress is preferred. 
Strong organizational; decision making and problem solving skillset with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Advanced negotiation skills and investigative logic
Progressive experience in training/mentoring/coaching employees
