Job Summary:

The incumbent is responsible for the planning, organizing and delivery of recreational programs and supporting of special events. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate programs for children and youth.
2. Ensure the program environment is safe for participants.
3. Communicate, liaise, and respond to enquiries from internal staff, participants, community partners, parents, and the public.
4. Maintain program space, ensuring equipment is set-up taken down and stored appropriately. Document unusual behavior and report suspicions of abuse.
5. Compile statistics, maintain accurate records and provide feedback on recreational programs
6. Follow, so far as is reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards.
7. Other related duties.

Number of Hires Needed 2 Position Requirements

Working Conditions:

Majority of work is performed under public recreation setting environment with some exposure to noisy conditions and bodily fluids. Hours of work between 05:00 and 01 :00, Sunday to Saturday. Regular evening and weekend work is required. 

Knowledge and Skills:

Completion of Grade 12. 2 year previous experience working or volunteering with children and youth in a recreational setting and 3 month on the job training. RCMP Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check. Standard First Aid, CPR Level C + AED. WHMIS. Food Safe Level 1-is an asset. High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification or equivalent is an asset. Ability to communicate well with a wide range of age groups and abilities. Ability to motivate children and youth and manage behavior problems. Ability to plan and implement quality learning programs for children and youth. Conflict resolution skills and ability to deal with the general public. Ability to foster and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
