JOB OVERVIEW: MILLWRIGHT INSTRUCTOR 

The Faculty of Trades and Technology is currently seeking a Non-regular Type 1 Millwright instructor to provide short-term delivery of Foundation and Apprenticeship training which may extend from a single day to several weeks/months.

This position would suit:

  • an instructor living in the Lower Mainland looking for some part-time employment and available on-call, or for a scheduled period,
  • an individual that is (or wishes to be) semi-retired, or 
  • an individual who is interested in sharing their experience to guide and train future trades people

This instructor will be part of a faculty team that works independently with students in a classroom and manages projects and instruction in a fully functional millwright shop.
There is an expectation of familiarizing yourself with established curriculum and the online training management system, as well as classroom/exam prep and marking outside student contact hours.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Non-regular Type 1 contract

EMPLOYMENT GROUP: Kwantlen Faculty Association (KFA)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Five years current, and relevant, related industry experience as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) after earning the IP RSE 
  • For the Millwright Foundation program, the instructor may hold a Machinist CofQ with five years’ experience as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), or Machinist after earning the IP RSE
  • The knowledge and ability to communicate effectively with students is essential
  • Supervisory experience would be an asset
  • Preference will be given to those applicants with a demonstrated record of teaching successfully

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications include an Industrial Mechanic/Millwright Certificate of Qualification (CofQ) with Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement (IP RSE).

SALARY INFORMATION:

Placement on the   will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status.
