POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Bridge Tender shall record in a log book each movement of the span and the date, time, and name of the vessel and direction of passage Perform bridge maintenance to movable bridge operating components and other basic maintenance Safety sensitive environment - working around heavy moving equipment An emphasis on safety is critical for all employees; they must remain focused at all times and be willing to work in a team environment Personal protective equipment provided including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hi-visibility vests, & other as required for job function Outdoor work environment - working on railway bridges with exposure to all weather conditions such as rain, direct sunlight and snow Must be comfortable working on a structure at heights with proper fall protection equipment Relief position will work Saturday shift and fill in for vacation and personal days Work is seasonal and employees are called in seniority order as and when required Employees may be trained on and required to work more than one bridge

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Must be willing to work at heights (bridges, ladders, roofs) Outdoor work experience is required Experience in a safety sensitive environment preferred Able to work all shifts Must have a valid driver's license Must be able to converse proficiently in English language skills using radio and telephone operations Must be proficient in the use of common hand and power tools
