We are currently looking for qualified Railway Bridgepersons for our 2024 maintenance and construction season. The Bridges and Structures (B&S) work environment provides exciting new challenges daily. The focus on safety, productivity, outperforming against client needs are three important aspects of the work you will be involved in.


Bridgepersons are responsible for ensuring compliance with all REMCAN and customer safety policies and procedures. In this position, you are required to demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of the railway industry and B&S components.

Minimum 3 years’ experience performing general maintenance, repair, and inspection of railway bridges and bridge components (concrete, wood, or steel) * Must be able to qualify in Fall Arrest and Scaffolding Installation (where required) * Demonstrate a proficiency in carpentry techniques such as framing, measuring, and building forms * Must be comfortable working at heights including ladders, scaffolding, and man lifts * Experience working with or around heavy equipment on-and-off track (an asset) * Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s license and ability to produce a driver’s abstract * Knowledge and recent qualification in Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR) * Must pass eRailSafe Canada certification * Able to pass pre-employment medical which includes drug and alcohol screening * Able to demonstrate ability to work unsupervised as well as in teams * Able to work various shifts as required, including weekends and night shifts * Able to work in various weather conditions all year round * Ability and willingness to travel to remote work locations as required * Maintain REMCAN safety guidelines and policies at all times
