What you’ll do:

The Health & Safety Advisor is knowledgeable in safety management and supports the continual improvement of Health and Safety performance at our 12 locations. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Health & Safety Advisor provides advice, training and support to the local Co-op on a wide variety of activities including the development, implementation and maintenance of health and safety programs. The Advisor is responsible for inspections, incident investigations, hazard and risk analyses, health and safety training (including induction, forklift, and propane), providing leadership to workplace safety committees, auditing and reporting, and vendor management. The Health and Safety advisor ensures compliance with, and maintaining of, all applicable legislation and regulations.

Travel required to all Boundary Co-op locations to conduct site inspections, training, onboarding, etc.

Who you are:

You have 3-6 years of relevant experience in the Health and Safety field; retail experience would be an asset; You’re honest and trustworthy, are results-oriented and strive to be the best in what you do; You are proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Outlook and Excel); you possess skills to develop spreadsheets and documents, and a desire to incorporate new technology into your work; Experience in safety inspection, environmental inspections, safety policy development and safety Committee administration; You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills; You have effective planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
