At SMS Equipment, our Millwright, Journeyperson is responsible for providing repairs, overhauls, and new builds for mining related equipment. This position will employ logic and deductive reasoning for planning, scheduling, diagnosing, and troubleshooting. This position is based in Acheson, AB.

The shift rotation for this position is 7x7.

The hourly rate for this position is  $58.05 per hour inclusive of base rate and premiums. Additional premiums may be available. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Study specifications, charts, drawings or sample parts to determine the machining operation to be performed. Calculate dimensions and tolerances and prepare working sketches if necessary. Measure and mark metal and other materials/fine tolerances required. Set up and operate tools, which may be computer numerically controlled, to perform precision machining operations. Fit parts to mechanisms and verify dimensions. Operate lathes, horizontal and vertical boring mills, milling machines and drill presses. Interpret work order and technical manuals. Work with close tolerance. Complete job specific reports and paperwork as needed.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a Journeyperson Millwright. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Other requirements include:

Line boring, vibration analysis & alignment experience required. Repairing and fabrication of various makes of equipment. Ability to quote projects. Following directions given in layouts, blueprints and work orders. Customizing mobile equipment and/or parts as per the customer's request. Conducting failure analysis and developing a welding repair process with the Service Manager. Think logically and keep up with changes in technology. Providing welding support primarily in the shop and occasionally in the field. Able to work safely in a challenging environment with minimal supervision. Valid Class 5 drivers licence.
