Description

The primary function of this role is to interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process and structural soundness. Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. This position will be reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and must comply with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment.

PLANT DESCRIPTION

IG Machine & Fibers Ltd. at the Ashcroft is a production facility that processes, color, and ship granules used for the roofing shingle. We are seeking a Journeyman Welder to join our team of skilled professionals. This position is part of the IAMAW, Lodge 692 (Union), and as such the successful candidate will be required join and be subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

WHEN YOU JOIN US, YOU WILL BE:

Using welding and cutting equipment

Performing routine inspections on equipment

Maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, roles and regulations

Performing maintenance welding repairs on equipment

Performing welding repairs and welding inspections on all company equipment

Completing work orders

Reporting all incidents, damage and near misses immediately

Assisting with other maintenance activities as required

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Journeyman Welder Interprovincial Red Seal Certification

Minimum of 1-3 years’ work-related experience

Knowledge and experience using all common welding processes with all metals in all positions.

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to manage time effectively while handling multiple jobs with varying priorities.

Must be able to work in a team setting with other tradespeople.

Hours/ Days / Schedule:
The hours of work will be primarily Wednesday through Saturday {40 hours, day shift}.
