AltaGas - Manager, Internal Audit
This new position with AltaGas as Manager, Internal Aduit will play a key role in developing and managing primarily operational and corporate internal audit projects, advisory services, as well as providing development, coaching and supervision to staff and external resources. A comprehensive understanding of the Company's business operations, strategies, and external factors influencing the organization will be essential. We are seeking a leader that thrives in a dynamic environment and has a proven track record of developing high performing teams.
You Will:
Manage daily activities of the operational and corporate internal audit staff, including evaluating, training, performance management, compensating, motivating, coaching, and developing processes and procedures to ensure the achievement of goals
Manage internal staff and external resources in completing the Internal Audit Plan projects
Assist the Internal Audit leadership team in preparing for the quarterly Audit Committee meetings
Perform special projects as requested by Senior Management and the Board of Directors, such as investigations of potential Code of Conduct violations
Project manage end-to-end audit engagements and performs front-line review of project deliverables (i.e., planning documents, work papers, draft reports) in accordance with the IIA’s International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF)
Develop and manage project objectives & budget and provides a project performance evaluation to the assigned staff
Perform risk assessments and assists the Internal Audit leadership team in developing the annual audit plan and longer-term strategy for the overall team
Apply best audit practices, coordinates internal planning/development meetings with audit staff and develops internal audit guidelines and procedures through completion and management of audit projects
Drive continuous improvement of internal audit processes, ensuring internal audits are completed in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors’ International Standards
Participate in and leads meetings with Senior Management
Actively engage with business stakeholders to ensure their audit and business risk management needs are met efficiently and cost-effectively
Interface with the external auditor to facilitate requests and efficiency of the external audit
You Have:
8+ Years related experience, including public accounting, internal auditing, or Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) experience
3+ Years supervisory experience
Demonstrate in depth experience in Energy industry operational and/or corporate audit
Strong record of directly or cross-functional team leadership
Demonstrated strong project management skills
Demonstrated strong analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex messages to diverse audiences at all organization levels, both verbally and in writing
Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors, subordinates, and peers
Demonstrated ability to logically and concisely write and present audit findings
Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex business problems
Demonstrated ability to determine priorities and carry out multiple competing responsibilities
Demonstrated aptitude for driving continual enhancement in the application of technology, data analytics, and innovation in the internal audit domain
Demonstrated ability to apply the principles and concepts of the IPPF, COSO, COBIT, and internal control/risk management processes
Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office, to analyze, share, retrieve, research and present business information.
Current certification as a CPA, CIA, or CISA required
Bachelor's Degree (Accounting, Finance, IT or related discipline) preferred
