The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), the largest faculty at Simon Fraser University, is home to 17 departments and schools, and 10 interdisciplinary programs. Within the Office of the Dean, Faculty Affairs is the key connection point between FASS faculty and the Faculty Relations Office. The FASS Faculty Affairs team supports the Faculty’s academic units and the Office of the Dean by providing information, advice and guidance on a wide range of matters including but not limited to the SFUFA/SFU Collective Agreement and EDI considerations during faculty-related processes. Our mission is to support the faculty life cycle through engagement, collaboration and collegiality.
About the Role
Provides confidential administrative and senior secretarial support in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences to the Associate Dean and Faculty Affairs Team. Provides day-to-day administrative support for Faculty Affairs; tracking document submission from departments and redirecting them to the appropriate member of the team and submitting documents to Faculty Relations; coordinating, editing, and proofreading confidential administrative material; gathering and distributing confidential materials; composing and distributing documentation; supporting academic appointments processes; supporting visiting scholars, adjunct and, faculty recruitment; arranging meetings; organizing special events; and maintaining confidential employee files and a complex database and filing system using the Teaching, Research and Collaboration System (TRACS).
Qualifications
High school graduation and one year of post-secondary education or formal program equivalent with courses in word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications, and training in secretarial practices/office procedures.
3 years of experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.
