The Job Summary:

The Physiotherapist willassess and administer treatment and carry out specific physiotherapy proceduresupon referral by a physician. Maintain patient assessments, progress reportsand statistical records. They will be ultimately responsible to the Director ofClinical Services for providing quality care and maintaining departmentalstandards.

Key Accountabilities &Success Criteria:

To assess, plan, direct, review and evaluatepatient treatment on the request of the referring physician. To administer treatment and carry out specificphysiotherapy procedures. To maintain patient progress reports andstatistical records. To advise referring physician(s) with regards tophysiotherapy assessment and progress in the treatment of patients. To liaise with other healthcare disciplines andcommunity agencies involved in the patient’s care. To participate in team conferences,presentations, educational seminars and other departmental, health centre andcommunity programs. Plan a client’s discharge in conjunction withother team members or agencies. Assure safe working practices and conditionsthrough compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. Assist in the maintenance of safe equipment. Complies with patient safety programs, andprocesses including identifying and reporting adverse events/near misses Attends and participates in appropriate safetytraining or education updates (ie. hand hygiene, emergency code reviews) Identifies unsafe conditions or practices andtakes appropriate action to address them including reporting or removinghazards Report unusual occurrences and incidents promptlyto the manager. Special projects and other related duties asassigned by the Manager of the department. The Physiotherapist will work in the InpatientRehab unit Assessment, development and implementation of a physiotherapytreatment plan for adults and older adults with orthopedic, neurological,cardiac, post surgical and complex medical needs Contributes to a transparent culture of client and staff safety byadhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures setby SJHC Promotes an environment that encourages and supports change usingchange leadership theory

Qualifications:

B.Sc. degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent (Registered with the Collegeof Physiotherapists of Ontario Member in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

Superior communication and clinical reasoning skills;flexible and adaptable to changing demands and schedules Caring and compassionate in all interactions withPatients and Families Preferred experience in delivery of PhysiotherapyServices for the geriatric population in an integrated care setting, preferablyin Inpatient Rehabilitation or Hospital. Excellent time management, organizational andprioritization skills as relates to patient care Ability to demonstrate a strong customer servicephilosophy Demonstrated to be self-directed, seeking directionappropriately
