Under the direction of the BC Cancer Provincial Library Leader (PPL), the Clinical Librarian works cooperatively with other Library staff across BC Cancer sites to provide reference and research consultation services, literature searches, bibliographic instruction, information literacy training, and technical and library web support to staff, patients, and families. The Clinical Librarian contributes to the planning and development of BC Cancer Library services and its short and long-range goals and objectives, assists in library collection and resource development and evaluation, and consults and provides recommendations on research methods, citation management, and online searching. Establishes and maintains liaisons with BC Cancer programs to promote and develop knowledge-based services. Trains volunteers to assist with consumer health collections and assists with document delivery and circulation.

Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited Library School, three (3) years’ experience in a health-related library and/or a subject background in a health-related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Skills & Knowledge

As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.). Demonstrated commitment to customer service. Ability to organize work and determine priorities within a complex health information environment. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to collaborate and deal with others effectively. Ability to operate related equipment.
