PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager/F&B Supervisor, the Banquet Porter is responsible for ensuring the banquet rooms are set properly according to the Banquet Event Order, ensuring the highest standards of hospitality are always demonstrated when assisting and serving guests of the hotel.
This position includes days, evenings, weekends and holidays. The occasional overnight may be needed depending on business demands.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The specific responsibilities of the Banquet Porter will vary depending on the needs of the properties. Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following areas:
- Follows all established and future banquet Standard Operating Procedures.
- Prepares, sets up, and delivers what is required pertaining to the Banquet Event Order.
- Cleans and maintains banquet rooms and related public areas.
- Maintains banquet department equipment, storage, and work areas.
- Sets up and disassembles tables, chairs, and stage equipment to accommodate events.
- Provides value added service to customers to meet or exceed customer expectations:
- Communicates effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Demonstrates teamwork by cooperating and assisting at the hostess station
- Maximizes guest service by exhibiting strong knowledge of the hotel's facilities and services.
- Stocks work areas with China, silver, glassware, linen, napkins, ensures stock is clean/polished.
- Checks with the convener regularly to ensure they have everything they need.
- Ensures that all walls, tables, floors, chairs, and whiteboards are clean after each event and that the room is restocked with the appropriate items.
- Works quickly and efficiently throughout a banquet event, with little interruption to the convener.
- Communicates effectively with audio visual contractors to ensure proper set up.
- Reports all concerns related to Maintenance, Health and Safety, Security or Suspicious circumstances (including smells/sights and sound) immediately to the appropriate leader.
- Adheres to all Nova Hotels standards, including Hygiene, Health and Safety, and Guest Interactions.
- Other projects/duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is a setting, which has the following conditions: low noise environment; high traffic area for internally and external guests, exposure to office equipment such as photocopier, fax and telephone, potential exposure to theft and/or belligerent guests.
