A career as an Associate Director in the Financial Resource Management team at National Bank means acting as a specialist in operational tax for our international businesses. You will act as an expert on withholding processes and provide related guidance on dividends, corporate actions, financial transaction tax, capital gains, tax reclaims, and tax documentation related to multiple international jurisdictions and custodians.
As a tax business specialist, you will develop a close relationship with Financial Markets operations and with Financial Markets business lines involved with securities trading. They will also partner with the Tax Advisory function from NBC corporate Finance to address and mitigate risks associated with operational processes prompting for tax advice.
The role will span over Financial Markets and Wealth Management areas as needed.
Your job
Provide guidance to the Operational Tax Reclaim team, and to the Corporate Action teamMap and maintain Tax Documentation requirements with NBC group’s Custodial and Tri-Party platformsMaintain active knowledge of industry changes and trends affecting NBC businessesAssess tax documentation requirements and provide related support related to new jurisdictions contemplated for custody, tri-party or bilateral trading as neededWhere applicable, identify risks and provide mitigating solutions with processes linked to tax operations such as Withholding Tax/FTT/Stamp Duty/Capital Gains Tax and related reportingAct as a subject matter expert while interacting with the New Products and Activities groups, Operations, and selected business areasActively participate in select business or regulatory initiativesYour team
The Financial Resource Management team works closely with Financial Markets traders and business heads, advising on optimal allocation of financial resources. It oversees business development and assesses related regulatory and tax operations processes for efficiencies. It also secures the delivery of critical regulatory projects affecting Financial Markets and as needed, Wealth Management.
You will report to the Managing Director, Financial Resource Management, Optimization and Regulatory-Tax.
Efficiency and teamwork are core values for the team that evolves in a fast paced environment. The group is always on the lookout for optimized processes securing business' success in a context of constrained financial resources.
This position can be based in Montreal, Toronto, New York City or London (UK).
Prerequisite
A degree in business, finance, tax, accounting, or another complementary discipline with relevant exposure to capital marketsMinimum of 5 years in an international tax operations environmentEMEA tax exposureDemonstrated problem-solving mindset, collaborative approach and strong desire to learnStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with various business functions across Financial Markets and Wealth ManagementSelf-starter who can work under their own initiative Languages:Language: English
