About the Opportunity

Working closely with fellows Epidemiologists and reporting to the Manager of the Cancer Registry & Analytics, the Junior Epidemiologist helps support the development of a high-quality cancer surveillance system for the Nova Scotia Health Cancer Care Program (NSH CCP). The Junior Epidemiologist conducts routine data queries and analysis, produces descriptive cancer statistics, and is responsible for the development of cancer control quality and system performance indicators.  The Junior Epidemiologist also assists the creation of knowledge products such as annual reports and infographics to encourage knowledge exchange with patients, health care providers and the public. Through their responsibilities, the Junior Epidemiologist supports research related activities and operational cancer care decision making and planning for the NSH CCP.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Master of Science in Epidemiology or equivalent (Thesis-based degree preferred)
  • One-year related experience in epidemiology preferred
  • Thorough understanding of population health and epidemiological principles
  • Demonstrated skills in research methodologies, statistical analysis, and record linkage
  • Knowledge of statistical and analytical software such as SAS, R, and Python
  • Knowledge of ArcPro, Tableau and Canva software, a strong asset
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent writing, content creation and communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Health Care system and the Cancer Care Program in Nova Scotia
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of principles of ICD coding
  • Competency in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Permanent Full-time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

$37.61 - $47.01 Hourly

(current salary is subject to review)
