General Description:

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the capabilities of our Azure environment and internal systems used to support the day-to-day operation of SkillsWave and its employees. You will be tasked with implementing automation solutions that help stabilize and standardize our environment as well as increase the speed of our ability to deliver services to our employees. The Infrastructure Engineer will manage the automation pipelines by which our software for servers, laptops and other internal systems are maintained and secured.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for building world-class infrastructure and a track record of success creating highly available, scalable, automated, distributed systems. You will need strong systems experience, including with AWS and Azure, excellent interpersonal communication, and experience accepting and giving meaningful feedback on technical designs and implementations. 

HOW WILL I MAKE AN IMPACT?

Operations and Maintenance: 

Day-to-day operations of SkillsWave's Azure Cloud Environment. Analyzing infrastructure and working with AWS and other technologies to help build integrations into the platform to support a Product-Led Growth engine. Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix, and document problems, and implement preventative measures. Developing and maintaining systems documentation such as architecture diagrams and utilization reports. Patching of all infrastructure systems (Windows Server, Windows desktop, etc) Design and implementation of new IT initiatives & infrastructure upgrades Ensuring all backup strategies SkillsWave has in place and related commitments are being met. Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines. Occasional after-hours maintenance window work is a requirement of this role. Reasonable on-call rotation is a requirement of this role.

 Monitoring:

Monitor Azure Cloud and internal networks performance and availability. Monitoring all systems for faults and ensuring they are resolved in a timely fashion.

Optimization and Performance Tuning:

Ensure infrastructure performance, and uptime, and following best practices for thoughtful security by design. Capacity planning.

Automation:

Automating and scripting manual tasks related to routine tasks, release, and deployment activities using any tools available.

Collaboration and Support:

Incident response and resolution. Partner with other teams and end users to resolve issues. Adhering to departmental protocols and procedures such as change and incident management systems. Partner with Product and Engineering to develop and utilize integrations between products, in support of a world-class PLG motion.

Competencies:

Ability to work effectively with cross functional teams Influence others on a variety of technical decisions Critical Thinking and Analysis during incidents and project work Accurately prioritizes tasks based on knowledge of business impact, able to meet agreed upon timelines, and make recommendations for priority adjustments for the team as required. Willing and eager to learn Crafts solutions to problems or tasks considering business needs and edge cases and troubleshoots any problems that occur.

Skills

Experience in implementing Enterprise Architecture strategies that positively impacts the business outcomes for SkillsWave Operational knowledge cloud-based infrastructure Proven ability to troubleshoot and react to infrastructure outages Knowledge of capacity planning. Knowledge of ITIL, Change/Incident Management. Strong predilection for automation.

Education Recommendations: 

Minimum 2+ years of experience with cloud-based infrastructure hosting. (Azure preferred). Experience configuring and administering MDM Solutions, Active Directory, Office 365, SCCM Experience with the managed services on cloud-based infrastructure. Proven experience with monitoring infrastructure. Strong knowledge of advanced networking security and design
