Your future role on our team

To pursue project and clientdevelopment in the Sept-Îles region, BBA wants to bolster its local expertisein automation, instrumentation and control. Working closely with our offices inLabrador City, Montréal and Mont-Saint-Hilaire, this team is actively involvedin developing the Sept-Îles region and in executing various projects in themining and metals, and energy sectors. As part of this small, collaborativeteam, where proximity with colleagues is a priority, you'll benefit from BBA'snetwork of recognized experts to support you in your mandates and yourprofessional development. What's more, you'll have the opportunity to getactively involved on client sites.

As such, the firm is looking for someone to fill the position of AutomationEngineer or a candidate to the engineering profession (CEP). Since the officeis strategically located close to our clients, you’ll have severalopportunities to perform site surveys, provide technical assistance to localclients, participate in commissioning new equipment and systems, and work onprojects of all sizes. Additionally, you’ll benefit from BBA’s network ofrecognized experts with the opportunity to quickly assume increasedresponsibilities within our projects.

Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with clients. Listen to and meet high client expectations. Help define the scope of projects and proposals. Allocate tasks to technicians and drafters assigned to the project, review their work and assess the technical scope. Be involved in commissioning.

Technical

Prepare plans and specifications as well as detailed engineering deliverables (P&IDs, layout drawings, I/O loop and motor control diagrams, lists of cables and instruments, installation details). Draft reports, plans and specifications, construction and purchasing estimates and calls for tender. Prepare technical data sheets and select instruments (flow, pressure, level) and control valves. Provide technical assistance during construction work (electrical/instrumentation). Perform inspections or technical surveys. Help with programming PLCs, DCSs and operator interfaces.

Client service

Interact with clients and provide technical support to the team in charge of business development. Establish and maintain contact with clients. Define client needs and identify new needs during projects. Participate in commercial and technical proposal preparation.

Summary of certifications and job requirements

Bachelor’s degree in automated production engineering, electrical engineering or other relevant training Three or fewer years of relevant experience Member of a Canadian professional engineering association Experience in design, instrumentation and control Experience in programming control systems (SCADA, PLC, DCS) Available to travel to and from our BBA offices in the Greater Montréal area Available for short- and long-term work assignments at client locations or sites Asset: Bilingual (English and French), both spoken and written Asset: Interest or relevant experience in automation and instrumentation, or participation in detailed engineering of a mining project in the energy sector Asset: Knowledge of ABB’s 800xA control platform
