Your Opportunity:

In this position, the dietitian will work with Vegreville long-term care residents and home care clients based in the communities and surrounding areas of Vegreville and Lamont. Home care clients can reside in their own homes, lodges or supportive living facilities. Clients are predominantly adults and will present with a variety of problems that may include cancer, diabetes, obesity, failure to thrive, dysphagia, open wounds. Close collaboration with multiple health professionals and family members is required to ensure appropriate provision of nutrition therapy.

Description:

As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a Patient First philosophy; be comfortable working with seniors and their families; be knowledgeable of chronic disease management and adult education principles; and have excellent time management and interpersonal skills. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required to provide Home Care services.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working in LTC, home care, and acute care.
