Our Orthopedic department in Ambulatory Care has exciting news We are looking for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Orthopedics at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, located in Fort McMurray. You will have a chance to positively impact the lives of a vibrant community while collaborating with a diverse team to provide comprehensive patient care. This is a specialized LPN-Orthopedic role where your duties will encompass assessing, planning, implementing, documenting, educating patients, and evaluating care based on facility standards. If you do not have the current orthopedic training, you must meet the needed requirements and training will be provided. You'll need to adeptly navigate the complexity of patient needs and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced setting. You will participate in quality improvement initiatives while supporting and maintaining high quality patient and family centred care. We reside on Treaty 8 territory and on the traditional lands of the Metis. Respecting the historical impacts of colonization, acknowledging traditional Indigenous beliefs, cultures, and the diversity of many beliefs among Indigenous peoples.Fort McMurray is a family-forward city with lively social, arts, recreational and cultural opportunities. Description:

As an Orthopaedic Technician (Ortho Tech), you will apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints and traction equipment utilized in the care of orthopaedic patients (clients, residents). You will observe, monitor, report and document changes in the patient's physical, mental and emotional state, while providing safe and effective, quality care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program.Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Advanced Education in Orthopedics for LPN’sOr you must have 3600 hours of acute care experience as an LPN to be eligible for the training which will be provided for you.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years recent orthopedic and surgical experience preferred. Drains and Wound Care experience preferred. To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered please attach a resume and cover letter with your application.
