About the role


Assist with the delivery of material, loading and blasting to the vale’s Stobie mine site, ensure inventory counting, ensure the good condition of delivery equipment and promote the company through customer service in a safe and efficient manner. The Role will be on a 7/7 rotation day shift only but could be subject to change. The project sits within the Sudbury city limits and is an open pit project.

What you will be doing

Health, Safety & Environment
• Support the company in meeting its HSE objectives.
• Suspend any blasting operations that could pose a risk to personnel, infrastructure, or the environment.
• Notify management as soon as a safety issue occurs, illness, injury or incidents that have an impact on the environment.
• Participate on a regular basis in safety meetings and various training courses.
• Ensure that you understand the safety rules and procedures for all vehicles.
• Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), use and maintain PPE according to the manufacturer's specifications.
• Learn and follow HSE rules in relation to the position.
• Ensure that your workstation is clean and tidy.
• Regularly check your workstation to ensure that there is no risk of injury, illness, or other incident, and ensure that appropriate corrective measures are taken, if necessary.
• Report any observed actions that go against the SH&E rules, either by a colleague or a contractor.
• Seek opportunities to improve the quality of HSE and actively participate in the development of activities that will improve it.
• Comply with all job requirements as well as the rules and procedures related to the ESS.

Blasting
• Be aware of the importance of safety rules and the possible consequences if procedures are not followed according to the rules and regulations.
• Have experience in customer service and deliver a quality result.
• Knowledge of mining surface explosion.
• Possess a valid General Explosives Permit.
• Any other tasks related to blasting operations required by the line manager.

Driving 
• Perform pre-start-up and return inspections including fluid level checks.
• Keep vehicle interiors always clean.
• Operation of motorized material handling equipment such as wheel loader.
• Possess a valid driver's license (Class 5). 
• Possess a valid Dangerous Goods (TDG) permit.
• Understand the impact and importance of preventative vehicle maintenance.


Explosives Magazine Handling and Operations
• Operate trucks and loading/unloading sites at explosives depot sites.
• Make sure each deposit is clean before locking.
• Authorized to adequately maintain the inventory system.
• Authorized to complete loading forms so that they meet legal and contractual standards.
• All other tasks related to the handling and operation of explosives magazines
• required by the line manager.

What you will bring

• 6 months of experience in a similar position.
• Possess a valid driver's license (Class 5). 
• Experience in handling technical explosives equipment.

Physical Requirements

• To be able to work outdoors adapting to any type of temperature.
• Capable of lifting loads of up to 30 kg.
• Carry loads of 25 kg or more, various products or other materials.
• Push/Pull loads using the equipment.
• Other activities include bending or crouching while preparing loads.
