What You’ll Do

As a Blaster, you will design, prepare, and detonate planned explosive-related blasts with correct, safe, and effective use of explosives in alignment with customer's requirements at locations serviced by DNNA (Dyno Nobel North America). You will lead the blast crew and provide on-the-job training to Blaster training positions. Other duties will include:

Design the appropriate use of explosives to properly serve the customers. Use practices consistent with company policies and procedures from applicable technical modules, DNNA Surface Blasting SOP's, regulatory and safety policies and procedures. Apply thorough knowledge of DN products, and the explosive and mining industries and practices. Complete blasting reports, inventory records, and other appropriate documentation Investigate all product complaints and poor performing blasts and report these to the proper plants, regional management and the Senior Technical Resource Manager. Support DynoConsult to develop expert capability in Value-In-Use applications, including electronic detonators, gassing and blasting technology. Develop professional relationships with both internal and external customers to successfully meet objectives and add value for customers, joint ventures, manufacturing sites and distribution. Respond professionally and timely to address problems and business requests. Understand and enhance service requirements to continually improve customer profitability.

What We’re Looking For

Grade 12 completion or equivalent preferred. License as a blaster valid in the province required (Or the ability to obtain due to work experience) 2+ years of related explosives industry work Experience as a supervisor is preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak English and to communicate verbally and in writing Act professionally and demonstrate skills in leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and motivation of others to successfully complete goals and objectives. Requires good judgment to determine unsafe/safe conditions; ability to keep accurate written records; and to problem-solve blasting and logistical situations. Ability to manage stress and multiple priorities, meet deadlines, set goals and resolve complex problems and make clear and decisive decisions.

Work environment

Rotation schedule (14 days on / 14 days off)
