The Utilities department hasan opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of EngineeringTechnologist - Utilities. Reporting to the Utilities Group Manager, thisposition offers 72 hours bi-weekly starting as soon as possible.

The EngineeringTechnologist – Utilities is primarily responsible for fulfilling internal andregulatory benchmarking and regulatory reporting requirements related to RMOWwater supply and treatment, wastewater collection and treatment and DistrictEnergy Systems. This role will ensure quality and continuity of information bycoordinating or performing collection and consolidation, verifying thatdatasets are current, accurate, organized, and accessible, and will developreports, graphs, and analyses for a variety of audiences. This role will alsomanage technical systems upgrades such as; the advanced water metering infrastructureprogram and SCADA hardware, software, communications and security upgrades. TheTechnologist will also act as the primary Utilities information systemsresource and liaison for the municipal SCADA platform, permits managementsystem, and Geographic Information System.

Qualified candidates have completionofpost-secondary education in a directly related field and have certification, oreligibility for registration as an AScT with the Applied Science Technologistsand Technicians BC with at least 1-3 years of experience in a similar roleincluding data management, project management or GIS administration withtraining and experience in database, data analysis and/or GIS. Qualifiedcandidates have excellent Microsoft Office Excel skills and intermediate leveldeveloper skills in Visual Basic for Excel and experience in MS applications,with substantial reporting experience in Excel, Access, Crystal Reports orsimilar with good working knowledge of municipal water, sewer and municipalengineering operations and asset management concepts and practices. Thestarting wage for this position is $44.24 per hour.

The successful candidate demonstratesexcellent verbal and written communication skills and proven abilities foraccuracy and analytical problem solving. The successful candidate alsodemonstrates commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace withintheir team and will create and maintain effective working relationships withothers while contributing to a positive environment. As a requirement of theposition, the successful applicant must hold a valid BC class 5 driver’slicense and must provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract prior to beginningemployment.
