Position Summary

BCIT’s School of Business + Media is seeking a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Faculty, Marketing Essentials, Media Entrepreneur, and Consulting Advising from September 2024 to late May 2025 to provide service teaching to business diplomas in the School in the areas of marketing essentials, sales skills, entrepreneurship, and to support marketing diploma students in the area of business consulting. Courses are taught on weekdays, between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, in person and on campus in Burnaby.

Courses may include: MKTG 1102 – Essentials of Marketing MKTG 3800 – Media Entrepreneur for Broadcast MKTG 4418 – Business Consulting Projects  The hiring committee is seeking an industry expert with a passion for teaching and learning and strong commitment to ensuring students develop applied skills and specialized knowledge. Applicants should have 8+ years of experience in marketing roles including developing marketing strategy and overseeing marketing teams; with experience working in media-based organizations an asset. Duties & Responsibilities The right candidate will demonstrate strong self-direction and leadership, the ability to adapt to new working environments quickly and self-sufficiently, and a commitment to the next generation of marketers (as evidenced by mentoring or similar experience). They will also have experience in coaching, teaching, or managing teams on projects related to marketing strategy development and execution. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Marketing credential required; BCIT business diploma an asset. A minimum of 8 years proven success working in related roles. Instructional experience at a polytechnic or similar applied institution is preferred; and/or experience with professional coaching or other adult learning environments. An established network of relevant professional contacts in the Lower Mainland, British Columbia, and beyond. Excellent English-language communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a collegial environment.
