Position Description:

The Housing Resource Coordinator will:

Receive and respond to inquiries about community housing, affordable housing and homelessness programs offered in Haldimand and Norfolk Counties Receive applications for community housing and determine eligibility for housing, rent subsidy and/or special priority status, in accordance with the Housing Services Act, 2011 Manage the community housing centralized waitlist for Haldimand and Norfolk Counties, in accordance with the Housing Services Act, 2011 Generate statistical reports for the Program Manager, Housing Services Generate and distribute vacancy and waiting list reports for all community housing providers in Haldimand and Norfolk Counties Administer the Portable Housing Benefit, Housing Allowance, Rent Supplement, Ontario Renovates, and Home Ownership Programs in accordance with all applicable funding program guidelines from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing Administer rental assistance and housing support service programs in accordance with applicable provincial or federal program guidelines Administer the Housing Stability Bank Program in accordance with the local program and Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative program guidelines Act as a community liaison and resource person on issues related to housing and homelessness Other duties as required by the Program Manager, Housing Services.

Requirements

Knowledge and Experience:

Four (4) year (Honours) University Degree in social work, social sciences, or equivalent Plus over one-years’ experience in a related field ( housing services, social services or counselling)

Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of community housing stock, eligibility, and rent geared to income assistance Knowledge of applicable legislation and/or experience working in a legislated environment Sound communication and interpersonal skills Experience working with confidential/sensitive personal information Ability to prioritize and multi-task Strong organizational skills Ability to operate general office equipment A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle as travel is required Computer expertise must be able to apply basic functions of Corporate standard software and have a general knowledge of department-specific software utilized by the Division ( Yardi Voyageur, Rent Café, Paramount, Transfer Payment Ontario System, SAMS, Microsoft Office (Excel)) Must be aware of safe work practices as they relate to job responsibilities and work environment, and have the basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
