The Global Marketing team inspires travelers to explore Edmonton through out-of-the-box content, stunning visuals, and compelling stories. As part of our year-round marketing strategy, we work in partnership with industry leaders to promote attractions, experiences, festivals, major events, and one of the country’s hottest culinary scenes. We shine a spotlight on Edmonton through digital and social marketing, as well as experiential campaigns, connecting visitors to the best authentic Edmonton experiences.
About the Position
Reporting to the Manager, Brand Marketing, the Graphic Design Intern position provides support to Explore Edmonton’s Global Marketing team, specifically on graphic design support as it relates to Explore Edmonton’s five marketing accounts: Sport & Culture, Business Events, Consumer Marketing, Venues and Community Initiatives & Agriculture. This includes the creative elements and design of both internal and external facing branded documents and campaign collateral.
This is a temporary position which runs from approximately June to August 2024.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Collaborate with the Brand and Design team to develop design concepts and collateralReceive feedback from the Brand Marketing Manager and Graphic Design Specialist and make necessary changes Brainstorm and develop creative ideas to further marketing/communications efforts Support internal resources and 3rd party vendors with the execution of design projects.Continuously adhere to brand guidelines and ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice, and suitable for distribution across all channelsAssist with design execution and planning for Marketing and all other EEC business unitsSupport Brand Marketing Manager and Graphic Design Specialist with a wide array of projects. This might include writing, research, website updates, or campaign brainstorming. Provide support for various Global Marketing team projects, including tagline brainstorming and experiential campaignsCurrent tourism, marketing and design researchFile management and organization Other projects that ariseThe successful candidates will have the following:
High school diploma requiredEnrolled in post-secondary education in Graphic Design, Professional Communications, Visual Arts, Journalism – New Media, Arts or related undergraduate programsStrong design foundation with the willingness to grow skillset Passion for travel, destination growth, tourism and events industriesExcellent people and communication skills, both oral and writtenAble to work in a team environment and collaborate for solutionsProficient with Microsoft Office Suite Familiar with project management software such as Asana is an assetProficiency in Adobe CS (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) is requiredCreative mind and ability to truly understand a brand essence Ability to multitaskSolution driven Thinks outside the box-
