Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Mental Health Therapist - Indigenous Mental Health Liaison will provide addiction and mental health assessment, triage and referral, as well as crisis intervention, de-escalation and short-term brief solution focused therapy up to six sessions as well as community prevention and promotion work. Another area of focus of this position is the provision of specialized treatment and prevention/education services addressing broad complex challenges for the Indigenous population for Wetaskiwin and surrounding areas. Wetaskiwin is a secure, connected and inclusive community home to a diverse population of 13,248 residents (SuperDemographics 2019) located in Central Alberta. As the smallest city in Alberta, Wetaskiwin is well-known for its friendly, small-town atmosphere, providing a quality lifestyle through ample greenspace, parks and recreation opportunities. Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Course completion specific to Indigenous Studies.
