Reporting to the Director, Medical Imaging Services. The Site Coordinator, Medical Imaging practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice as well as utilizing a client and family centered care model and the vision and values of the department within Fraser Health (FH). The Site Coordinator works in a team based environment and is charged with providing technical leadership, supervision, expertise and coordination of daily activities for the designated site. Duties include participation in the planning and coordination of Medical Imaging services, practice standards, goals and objectives in conjunction with the Director and Medical Director and other team members. Collaborates on various staffing, financial and quality control issues to achieve excellence in client centered care, education and research. Supports and facilitates regional initiatives to improve service delivery for Medical Imaging across the health authority. Responsibilities Participates in the planning and coordination of medical imaging services for designated site(s) by methods such as establishing working relationships with various groups such as Directors, Medical Directors, Program teams, other disciplines, clinical units, medical staff, corporate departments and modality experts. Determines priorities and goals for the services in collaboration with designated management and other team members. Sets policies and procedures, provides technical guidance/advice, mentors, coaches and promotes continuous learning among staff and facilitates workplace solutions. Coordinates the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of practice-based reference manuals, practice standards and goals and objectives in conjunction with designated management and other team members to ensure consistency with regional and professional standards. Ensures that accreditation and radiation safety standards are maintained and that optimal contributions are made to regional modality development and the advancement of organization’s goals and mandate to deliver quality healthcare in a continuum of integrated care, and in an effective, efficient and cost-effective manner. Oversees the daily operations and activities of Medical Imaging personnel by supervising departmental staff, preparing, planning and establishing work and vacation schedules and priorities to ensure efficient and effective use of department staff. Completes payroll records, organizes in-service education programs, prepares patient booking schedules and completes employee appraisal forms. Reviews performance with staff and orients new staff. Participates in staffing, hiring and discipline as appropriate. Makes recommendations to the Director regarding planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the services provided by the department. Establishes objectives, policies, procedures and standards that will result in an efficient and coordinated medical imaging service which continues to meet department, hospital and health authority goals and objectives. Prepares budgetary information including capital, operating and personnel budget requests and takes corrective action to control department expenses in compliance with approved budgets. Provides for the requisitioning of necessary supplies and equipment for the department. Determines workload measurements and compiles workload statistical reports and other reports, as required. Develops and maintains statistical data related to items such as department activity levels, attendance, leaves of absence and performance appraisals. Makes recommendations to the Director on how services may be improved. Oversees the department’s Quality Improvement program, defining report requirements and responding to issues identified by the Radiologists, Management, sub-section supervisors and staff. Promotes staff awareness and involvement in research activities, identifying relevant research opportunities. Incorporates research findings and information into policies, procedures, educational programs and materials. Ensures that the department meets Health and Safety rules, regulations and practices such as Fire, Disaster, WHMIS, Smart Moves and Infection Control by updating department staff on changes to safety procedures, following up on safety recommendations and ensuring that staff are adequately trained and authorized to operate machinery and equipment. Participates in the development of proposals and specifications related to the purchase of major equipment and program enhancements for the department and provides input as a member on hospital committees where Medical Imaging representation is required. Maintains equipment by monitoring its operation and making arrangements for maintenance and repairs as required. May perform technical work if required by performing duties such as positioning patients, explaining procedures, correlating clinical history with examination to be performed, and operating imaging equipment in accordance with established standards and procedures. Monitors patient during procedures and responds to emergent situations in accordance with organization’s policies and procedures. Ensures a safe and healthy workplace for patients/clients and staff through methods such as effective orientation, training, promotion, and monitoring of safe work practices, and enforcement of health and safety requirements. Reports unsafe situations; investigates and takes corrective action and/or notifies appropriate personnel. Participates in the departmental Continuous Quality Improvement/LEAN programs by using established monitoring and auditing methodologies to perform quality assurance checks such as patient/physician satisfaction or booking protocols. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Training and Experience Certification with CAMRT or CARDUP as appropriate. Completion of a recognized program in designated modality. A minimum of five years' recent, related experience, including three years' leadership experience supplemented by completion of approved management courses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid BC Driver’s License as appropriate. Travel will require the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage will be paid per the collective agreement. Skills and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations. Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality. Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment. Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval. Demonstrated ability to function as an effective leader, motivator, facilitator and team member. Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate, coach and mentor staff. Demonstrated ability to manage allocated resources. Demonstrated ability to develop procedure protocols and manuals. Demonstrated ability to promote an evidence based practice and a culture of creativity and enquiry. Demonstrated ability to develop project plans and implement new projects. Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies. Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques. Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work. Demonstrated computer skills. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
