Your Opportunity:

Come join the dynamic Calgary Rural Rehabilitation team This temporary part-time opportunity ( days/wk) will be based out of the High River General Hospital and will be focused on supporting Rehabilitation programming in the facility as well as in the community. The High River Hospital is located 45 minutes south of Calgary and has 30 acute care beds, and 50 Long-Term Care beds. The multidisciplinary rehab team consists of 13 staff, supporting the acute, transition and LTC units at the hospital as well as the emergency department, complex outpatient services, Early Hearing Detection, and home care services for High River and surrounding areas. The successful candidate for this position will primarily support the rehabilitation needs for our acute care patients, but there will be opportunity to support other service areas as well (Outpatient, Long Term Care). Reporting to the Rural Allied Health Manager (Adults) the Physiotherapist will work with our existing rehabilitation team to provide integrated rehabilitation services across the continuum of health services. In addition to performing your clinical roles you will be expected to foster effective relationships within the site and across our rehabilitation teams, and at time participate in quality improvement and program development initiatives within the Rural Calgary zone.

Description:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention ( prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

AADL authorizer for small equipment.Experience working in a rural setting.Experience with facilitating group exercise classes.Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
