Robert Half has partnered with a well established manufacturing and distribution company to find an expert to lead their Health and Safety function. As the sole Health and Safety Advisor you will get to do the following:


  • Be the Health & Safety subject matter expert (SME) for all projects, training, processes, and equipment.
  • Manage and monitor safety programs to ensure compliance with local and provincial regulations
  • Develop and implement effective Occupational Health and Safety (OH& S) policies and guidelines
  • Injury management and collaborating with worker compensation boards
  • Provides advice, guidance and resources on safety-related matters
  • Manage and update the safety statistics and compliance requirements in IS Net World and Complyworks
  • Conducting weekly, monthly, and annual facility inspections and audits.
  • Manage, implement, and follow up on safety programs and processes such as proactive reporting and safety initiatives

The role offers a competitive salary, health/dental benefits, matching RRSP program and an opportunity to grow the role to a Manager level. You will be the right-hand person of the HR/HSE Manager and they will provide you the support to be successful. Please note that this in office role (SE Edmonton) primarily with travel as needed (approximately 10%) to sites in AB, MB and BC.

  • A post-secondary degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field would be an asset
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Health & Safety Advisor or in a similar role, preferably in a complex manufacturing environment
  • Hold or working toward a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation would be an asset
  • Previous experience developing and managing health and safety requirements for field technicians would be an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Worker Compensation Board online reporting, and familiar with Health & Safety compliance portals, such as Complyworks and IS Net World
  • Continuous improvement and innovative mindset, with strong problem-solving and decision-making acumen
  • Self-motivated with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in MS Office program
