Transit Driver

Location: Tofino and Ucluelet, BC

Ready to change gears and accelerate your career? If you’ve got exceptional driving and people skills, we want you to join our team PWTransit Canada is currently expanding our services and is excited to be operating in the communities of ­­Tofino and Ucluelet starting in April 2024.

PWTransit is seeking full-time, part-time, casual Transit Drivers to join our team. Drivers will be responsible for safely transporting passengers while providing superior customer service and demonstrating strong communication skills.

Full-time drivers will work 40 hours per week, part-time drivers will receive 10 - 30 hours per week and casual drivers will work on an on-call basis.

Position Requirements:

A valid class 1 or 2 driver’s license with Air Brake endorsement  Driver’s abstract with no more than 3 demerit points Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol screening Clear criminal record Must be organized, punctual and reliable Possess excellent driving skills and habits Ability to read maps and navigate Ability to communicate effectively A good knowledge of the local area is a definite asset Willing to work shifts, including split shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as necessary 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Safely transport passengers on a number of assigned routes Manage passenger behavior by quickly and effectively solving problems Drive safely and responsibly and be prepared for all road and traffic conditions Provide superior customer service and assist with passenger questions/inquiries

Additional Information:

A good knowledge of the local area is an asset This position may require working shifts, including split shifts, as well as weekends and statutory holidays Selected applicants will be required to participate in a comprehensive recruitment process which consists of interviews, trainability session, medical examination (as required for licensing), drug and alcohol screening, criminal record and reference checks

Compensation:

Training and probationary rate - $27.00 per hour Full rate - $30.00 per hour Benefits package (for full-time employees) RRSP after one year (for full-time employees)
