Payroll Specialist Contract Opportunity


If you're a dedicated payroll professional with a passion for accuracy and compliance, and you thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you Robert Half is urgently seeking a Payroll professional with experience processing both Canadian & US Payroll, as well as experience using ADP software. The Payroll Specialist opportunity will be a short-term contract with potential to extend/turn permanent, and will be a fully remote position working EST hours. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately processing and reconciling payroll for Canadian and US employees. This role plays a critical part in ensuring employees are compensated accurately and on time while adhering to all relevant laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for Canadian and US employees
  • Generate reports for HR and Finance with each payroll cycle
  • Assist employees during onboarding for payroll and benefit enrollment
  • Manage US benefits and 401k plan contributions, including billing reconciliation and compliance reporting
  • Maintain vacation and bonus accruals, and handle payroll-related adjustments
  • Ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations and government filings for the USA and Canada
  • Handle new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and retroactive pay
  • Calculate and process monthly WSIB remittances/returns for all Provinces
  • Administer Workers Compensation plan for US employees and complete annual payroll reconciliation
  • Prepare and issue tax documents such as 1099’s and T4A’s
  • Perform year-end functions including production of ROE’s, T4’s, W2’s, and 1099’s
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned

  • 3-5+ years of Payroll experience required
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) preferred
  • Experience with Canadian & US payroll processing
  • Prior experience using ADP software
  • Intermediate Excel
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
